Meg’s musical monday
Meg’s fresh finds and current obsessions - new additions every week
October 11, 2021
SAY SOMETHING - Alexa Cappelli
Good pop song, “if he wanted to he would” vibes.
1night - Daddy NAT
Added this to my “soundtrack to my biopic” playlist. Belongs in super cool coming of age indie film.
Goodmood - Nabes
The title says it all. This song will put anyone in a good mood. Upbeat gospel vibe, this song makes me want to go to church and sing my heart out.
Clean - Maude Latour
You know those songs where the first time you listen to it you’re like “eh, I don’t know if I love this” and then all of a sudden you’ve replayed it without knowing why, and now you can’t stop starting it over and over and over again? This is one of those songs.
The Best - Toby Romeo Remix
Great build, fun song. I’d love to get lost in crowd dancing to this in dark club.

I’m a sucker for anything Miley, but finding this cover was like finding a true gem. It’s nothing overly impressive, but simply beautiful and listening to it, I can’t help but smile.
Box In The Ocean - Alessia Cara
One of my favorites off her new album… but expect to see me post more from this alum in the future as I get better acquainted
Open Season - Christian Sparacio
Vampire Weekend meets Mt. Joy. This one was a fun find.
Devil On My Shoulder - Chelsea Cutler
Getting to see a more vulnerable side of Chelsea in this one, and I like it.

If I didn’t add this to Meg’s Musical Monday it would be a shame, because I’ve been waiting months for this song to come out. The kind of song you just can’t help but sing along. Beach, bonfire, surrounded by friends.
Henry’s soul-filled voice, mixed with the funky beat makes this the perfect transitional tune. Easy listening, or dancing alone in your room - this song fits any setting.

Funky, Folky, Pop-y. Sounds like something I can’t quite put my finger on.
Wildest Dreams (Taylor’s Version)
This song will always remind me of Fall. Also, Taylor’s version so we have to stream.
The driving guitar melody kind reminds me slightly of Train’s ‘50 Ways to Say Goodbye.’ Sometimes a song is just fun to listen to and that’s all there is to it. This is one of those times.

Easy listening. Fun little build.
Moonlight - Children Under the Sun, Roz
Soundtrack worthy. Very groovy. The rap section reminds me of early Childish Gambino.
Feels very early 2000s chick flick mixed with a sound track for a good solo outdoor walk or a drive into the sunset.
Until I Found You - Stephen Sanchez
This song makes me feel like I’m slow dancing at a 1960s high school prom.
Heard him perform this at the VMAs and knew it was gonna be one I’d need to share

I have been waiting - very impatiently - for about a month now for Peter to release this song. Now that it’s out I feel I must promote it in any way I can so I’m not the only one who knows every word. Great release.
Cool beat, easy listen. Good driving song.
One of those songs that - in the least pretentious way possible - makes you feel very unstoppable. Like sticking your head out of the sunroof while driving through an empty tunnel.
Light Year (feat. Lennon Stella) - Adam Melchor, Lennon Stella
Adam Melchor and Lennon Stella are both incredible, so finding something they did together, obviously it found it’s way onto a Musical Monday post. Song meant for an indie coming of age film - specifically during a scene where the lead is finally accepting something.

edamame (feat. Rich Brian) - bbno$, Rich Brian
Great driving beat. This song makes me feel cool, but also fun.
Revolving (Marc E. Bassy) - Yung Bae, Marc E. Bassy
Summer’s not over till I say it is - or till I get this song to blow up at least. Great for day drives with the windows down.
New Artist Alert cool vibe, great chorus. I don’t know why but this is resonating as a great WFH song - bop while getting work done.

hate u cuz I don’t (feat. Bea Miller) - Louis the Child, Bea Miller
This new dance hit from Louis the Child and Bea Miller is the perfect mix to punch/dance/bike ride the guy who led you on right out of your life.
This song was meant to be sung very loudly in a car with all the windows down. It builds so well.
Good Mourning - Sophie Holohan
Disclaimer: this song will break your heart and make you lose all faith in love in just over three minutes. But the lyrics and melody are so beautiful it’s worth it.
I wanna love you but I don’t - Ben Platt
Another addition off Platt’s most recent album release, “Reverie.” Platt takes what would be a somber subject and turns it into a cathartic hit that could totally back track an 80’s style dance number.
baby blue (feat. Olivia O’Brien) - Dempsey Hope, Olivia O’Brien
An unexpected move for Olivia O’Brien (IMHO), but one I’m glad she made. Very catchy.

Cold Heart (PNAU Remix) - Elton John, Dua Lipa, PNAU
A cool dance tune. This song makes me feel like I’m sitting poolside at some trendy club. Samples Rocket Man with Lipa is singing the cover.
Another dance number. Think: If Foster the People got super cool and made something for a sick coming of age film soundtrack. You’ll understand once you listen to it.
BeVerly Hills BoYfRiEnd - Claire Rosinkranz, ROLE MODEL
An easy duet. When ROLE MODEL first came in, I thought it was Rex Orange Country singing. Do with that information what you will.
Dance With U - Staring in Spaces
This song reminds me of that moment in movies when the two characters in love decide to walk away from one another, get to a certain point, and realize they want to be together. The chorus sounds like those characters running back towards each other ready to embrace once again.

Carried by the melodic jazzy tone of a saxophone, Santoy shares the cadence and style of an early J. Cole. The song provides and smooth vibe with a sudden and unexpected edge sprinkled throughout.
John K explores the heavy topic of losing his happiness in a way that makes you want to dance. Song builds really well, easy listening.
The Hardest Part - Olivia Dean
Soothe yourself into a lull of bliss with the melodic chorus and the soulful tone of Olivia Dean’s Voice. Reminiscent of Maggie Roger’s, “Say It.”
Frankenstein - Claire Rosinkranz
Rosinkranz’s young and fresh voice provides an overtone of joy and carelessness that makes this the perfect summer tune. Nothing too serious, just good vibes.
